School Governors

Plumstead Manor School - Governing Board

Welcome to the governance section of Plumstead Manor School.

Our Governors are drawn from a wide range of backgrounds and bring a range of skills and experiences to the role from within and outside the sphere of education. We also participate in rigorous induction and ongoing training as part of the Royal Borough of Greenwich Education Service.

We aim to be representative of all the key stakeholders in the Plumstead Manor community including parents, staff, Local Council appointees and wider members of the community.

As Governors our guiding principles are success, harmony excellence and justice. These values reflects the skills and qualities we believe young people need to thrive and succeed in the 21st Century, and which we see as being the centrepiece of a Plumstead Manor education. We play a significant role as part of the leadership and management structure of Plumstead Manor School and exercise oversight and challenge in a non-executive capacity to the Head Teacher and Senior Leadership Team. One of our key responsibilities is to set the strategic direction, ethos and vision for the school. We also act as critical friend, offering both challenge and support to school leaders. We seek to bring a perspective, rigour and expertise beyond education to the table. Maintaining our accountability to the local community and to the standards of public life are very important to us and we take our duty and responsibilities as Governors very seriously.

We also support the school by participating in events and acting as ambassadors for the school in terms of communications and in using our own resources to enhance the opportunities available to the young people in our charge.

Head Teacher

Mr Douglas Greig

Mr D Greig

I have been a secondary school teacher for over 25 years, all of them in Royal Greenwich Schools.  I have held a senior leadership role for over 20 of those years, and was delighted to be appointed Head Teacher at Plumstead Manor in May 2015.   I am passionate about the power of education to unlock doors and open up opportunities for young people of all abilities and backgrounds, and I want the very best for each and every one of them.  I firmly believe that schools like ours have a vital role to play as assets in their local community.

Our school is an engine of opportunity and improvement, a generator of harmony and cohesion for the young people and families of Greenwich.  These are exciting times at Plumstead Manor, and I am both privileged and proud to serve as the Head in our wonderfully diverse and vibrant school.

Appointed by Greenwich Council:

Sue Le Bas Chair of Governors

I have been a governor in Greenwich Schools for over 20 years. Beginning at Fossdene Primary and joining the Governing Body of Plumstead Manor at the turn of the Millennium. As they moved on to university I became a co-opted Governor to support the school and the community where we live. In that role I supported the school in chairing the Specialism Committee. I became Chair of the Governing Body in the Autumn of 2015.

Professionally I have worked as a Primary teacher within Greenwich for 15 years. I now work, part-time in the voluntary sector as member care officer for iNet. Through iNet I also connect with a volunteer team helping to train teachers South East-Asia.
