Opportunities

  • All students study History in Years 7-9 History and Sociology are available at GCSE, AS and A Level.
  • To develop an awareness of the past and its importance to our lives.
  • To study current issues in society through Sociology
  • To develop skills particularly in literacy, numeracy, IT, in extended written work and in analysing and evaluating sources.
  • To gain access to a wide variety of books, videos, computer programmes and to use the Internet.
  • To take part in discussions and share ideas and opinions.
  • To study local history.
  • To prepare original pieces of research using source material
  • To take part in visits and talks.
  • To take part in cross-curricular events in school.
  • To develop an understanding of citizenship issues.
  • To study archaeology.

  • Year 10 Sociology trip to the Women’s Library.
  • Year 10 field trip to Science Museum and the Old Operating Theatre at Guys Hospital.

  • Contributions to Black History Month and Women’s Week.
  • Links with the community through The Plumstead Environment Group.
  • Archaeology project with Kent Archaeological Field School.
