Opportunities and Successes

  • Field Trips - all students have the opportunity to go on field trips, as the department firmly believes that field work is fundamental to the study of Geography and for the development of the whole student.
  • Year 7 - visit Woodlands Farm
  • Year 8 – visit Reculver and Herne Bay
  • Year 9 - visit an urban location
  • Year 10 - take part in a residential field trip to Swanage, to carry out investigations for their GCSE coursework.
  • The Department utilise a wide range of teaching methods to ensure all students have access to the curriculum. Such activities include role play, discussion, debates, ICT presentations and independent study.
  • Year 9 students are offered an extension programme to inspire and motivate further geographical interest and achievement.
  • Excellent OFSTED report.
  • Dynamic, forward thinking and enthusiastic staff with a wide range of specialisms and interests.
  • The Department aims to increase awareness of current issues, to encourage independent thought and critical thinking skills, whilst encouraging an awareness of global citizenship.
