Successes

  • Many students achieve top National Curriculum Levels for their KS3 Teacher Assessment.
  • In 2001 53 per cent A - C GCSE English.  In 2008 71% per cent A-C GCSE English
  • 57 per cent A - C GCSE English Literature.  In 2008 63% per cent A-C GCSE English Literature.
  • Achievement at A-Level is high
  • In 2002-2006 100 per cent pass rate in English Literature and
  • 100 per cent pass rate in Media Studies.  In 2008 100% pass rate in A2 Media Studies.
  • Many students participate in the weekly competition 'Poem of the Week'
  • Two students had their poems published in anthologies now on sale in bookshops.
  • A Year 9 student's poem about racism was part of the Anne Frank exhibition, which toured Britain
  • Year 8 students were filmed for a teacher training video for the National Literacy Strategy on Speaking and Listening
  • Every year hundreds of students participate in Book Week.
  • A-Level Media Studies students produced two films for the Greenwich Film Festival. Their films were also shown on British Airways flights.
  • A Level English Literature students have attended university Study Days on their examination texts.
  • Students go on to higher education to study English or Media at degree level.
