Opportunities

  • For all students to take Business Studies at KS4.
  • To gain a vocational qualification equal to two GCSEs.
  • To study the world of work and develop vocational skills such as using the telephone, e-mail, fax, and doing presentations.
  • To develop IT (computing) skills and become familiar with all industry standard office software.
  • To visit and investigate real businesses and interview people in various different job roles.
  • To create reports written in business format and develop professionally presented work using industry standards.
  • To be involved in the actual development and promotion of real products and services combining creativity with practicality.
  • To gain understanding of employees rights under the law.
  • European work experience to Spain planned this year.
Successes

  • Students were involved in designing the promotion of Waterfront's glass backed squash courts.
  • Links with many local businesses including MacDonalds, Charlton Athletic, Arsenal FC, the Co-op and many local businesses.
  • The school has been described as a centre of excellence by the examining body.
  • Students have interviewed many senior managers in both industry and the school to investigate management.
  • A video was made for the Co-op demonstrating difficulties of wheelchair access by last year’s students.
  • An E-mentoring has been developed to help support students by linking them with professionals in industry.
  • From September 2003 Plumstead Manor will be an 'Enterprise Pathfinder' school which will help us develop the entrepreneurial skills of our students
  • In a recent E-Business course run by Business Dynamics, our students were judged to be the best they had ever worked with.
