House Events 19th June 2019

The Houses within the pastoral system at Plumstead Manor were named by our students after inspirational leaders from various fields of expertise.

Stephen Hawking, theoretical physicist and cosmologist, Barbara Hepworth, sculptor, Katherine Johnson, mathematician, Jesse Owens, athlete and Malala Yousafzai, Human Rights Advocate.  These leaders reflect the rich and diverse community that Plumstead Manor is.  They are a symbol of the success and harmony we want for our whole school community and who demonstrate curiosity in abundance, collaboration with all, discipline in their drive, imagination in their specialist area and unrelenting resilience.

The house system has enabled Plumstead Manor staff and students to work vertically not just within Year groups.  Creating leadership and learning opportunities beyond the classroom.

On Wednesday 19th June all Plumstead Manor students were involved in Sports Day at Sutcliffe Track, Eltham or a House event or challenge.   Hawking House students visited the science museum and looked at every day science, Hepworth House visited the Tate Modern studying art in the 21st century, Yousafzai House attended the London Careers Fayre, Owens House explored the London 2012 Olympic Park and Johnson House completed house challenges linked to their House charity, Save the Children with a humanitarian focus.

All staff and students had a wonderful day and we have already started planning for next years event.
